A nursery in Gongo la Mboto, supported from Recco.
Beroya Nursery Trust is a locally run project: every day it welcomes children aged 3 to 5 from the community of Gongo la Mboto, on the edge of Dar es Salaam, and prepares them for primary school. Rekko ETS has funded it in full since 2018.

A day at Beroya
Learning activities
Play, language, numbers and classroom habits: what it takes to reach primary school with a fair chance of succeeding. One class, mixed ages.
One meal a day
Every child eats at the nursery. For many families it is the reliable meal of the day.
A medical day every year
A check-up for every enrolled child, with local health staff.
A point of reference
Informally, the nursery is also an information point for families in the neighbourhood: where to turn, what to do.

A check-up for every child, once a year
Local health staff see every enrolled child: weight, growth, a malaria test. The Beroya team filmed this video during the 2026 medical day.
Rekko also works beyond Central America
Beroya is small, concrete and rooted: one community, one nursery, a local team that runs it. Rekko ETS covers salaries, running costs, the food programme and the medical day. Gifts for Guatemala stay in Guatemala, and gifts for Beroya stay at Beroya.
